Orchard of Frankfurt

Nestled between the Main river and the Taunus mountain range and owing to its favorable climatic conditions, Kriftel itself is home to the largest orchards in the Rhein Main region. No wonder the city is also called the “Orchard of Frankfurt”. In addition to inviting strawberry fields major fruit trees planted include apples, cherries, plums, pears and apricots.

In addition to inviting nature trails major destinations worth a visit include the cities of Hofheim and Wiesbaden.

Hofheim

Hofheim boosts a historic old town with its carefully restored half-timbered homes, street cafes and shops. The earliest recorded settlements of Hofheim date back to the early Stone Age. In 1352, Hofheim received its town charter from Charles IV. In 1803, the town came under the power of the Duchy of Nassau and became Prussian in 1866. But Hofheim is also a city of green. Nearly 40% of the city’s total area is forestland, which means that leisure activities – whether it’s golf, horseback riding, mountain biking or hiking – can start right at your doorstep.

Wiesbaden

About 18km to the west, Wiesbaden is one of Germany’s major cities with a rich cultural, sporting and social life. The city offers an abundance of architectural gems, a famous casino, colorful and renowned festivals and lots of green spaces. Hessen’s state capital knows how to score with an excellent infrastructure and attractive locations.
